Te Kowhai joined Mather Solutions Limited in February 2023 and is a proficient facilitator and law graduate having worked across multiple community organisations and Government entities in the areas of Māori development, facilitation and policy implementation.

Prior to joining Mather Solutions Limited, Te Kowhai worked at various Government and private sector entities spearheading Māori development and policy initiatives. Te Kowhai also worked for one of South-East Asia’s largest law firms as a Legal Intern, based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Te Kowhai graduated from Waipapa Taumata Rau – the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Law and Arts Degree majoring in Maori Studies, Contemporary Māori Legal Issues and Public Policy. During university, Te Kowhai sat on various student boards including being an Executive Board Member of Ngā Tauira Māori and Te Mana Ākonga, the overarching National Māori Students Association.

Te Kowhai is proud to be from Te Tai Tokerau descending from Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Wai, Te Rarawa and Te Waiariki, Ngāti Korora. She has strong ties to her Hapū and Iwi in Northland and continues to participate in community initiatives and not-for-profit organisations which support community and rangatahi development.

Additionally, in 2022 Te Kowhai graduated from Te Wānanga Takiura o Ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori o Aotearoa with a diploma in Te Reo Māori fluency (Rūmaki Reo).
