Māori Cultural Capability

Kia uru kahikatea ki tū | Success through unity of purpose

The whakataukī and interconnected growth behaviour of the kahikatea promote
‘unity’. Click here for the full explanation of this whakataukī and tohu.

We are excited to provide a range of Māori cultural capability courses (physical and online) under our ‘Te Kahikatea’ development framework of interconnected learning delivered with a Māori cultural perspective. All courses are presented by Dr Jim Mather, Moana Tuwhare, Jason Whatuira, Te Kowhai Robinson or Kerira Tapene.

Our aim is to assist participants to:

  • Demystify what Māori governance actually is in a culturally safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Develop confidence in attendees who are required to engage with Māori entities and/or Māori communities.
  • Provide understanding and insights into te āo Māori / the Māori world.
  • Explain the relevance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its core principles.
  • Provide an overarching approach to the implementation of Māori cultural values and Te Tiriti principles at the strategic and organisational culture levels.
  • Fulfil ‘professional’ cultural development requirements.
